The local Esperanto groups of Seattle and Sidney are coordinating the 52nd ELNA Convention in Sidney, British Columbia, 25km (15 miles) north of Victoria on Vancouver Island.
The
convention will be held in the the beautiful Mary
Winspear Centre, a new conference/community center in downtown Sidney.
The center has many rooms of all sizes, from small conference rooms to the 8100
square foot Family Hall. The Charlie White Theatre is a proscenium-style
theatre with 310 tiered comfortable plush velvet seats. There is good
access for persons with disabilities.
Transportation to Sidney
Attendees arriving at the Victoria airport can take a taxi for the 10-minute drive to Sidney.
If driving from Victoria, go 25 minutes north on Pat Bay Highway #17 to Beacon Avenue, Sidney, and turn right at the traffic lights.
If you arrive on foot in Victoria, you can take bus #70 Pat Bay to Sidney.
Those arriving on foot by ferry from Anacortes can either walk about a kilometer (half mile) to the conference hotel, or contact Arlyn to arrange for a ride to your hotel.
If you bring a car on the ferry from Anacortes, go north on Fifth Street, then left on Beacon Avenue. In a few blocks Mary Winspear Center is on the left. Here's a map of Sidney.
If you bring a car on the ferry from Vancouver, drive five minutes south on Pat Bay Highway #17 to Beacon Avenue, Sidney, and turn left at the traffic lights.
Parking
Easiest is to park at a hotel and walk everyplace; everything in downtown Sidney is within about ten blocks. The convention site also has plenty of parking.
