Courses
The instructors have prepared a three-level program of study which
emphasizes the active use of Esperanto in intercultural communication, understanding, and
cooperation.
(These courses are official courses of the University of California. In the United States'
system, they may be used toward an undergraduate degree.
Students earn 5 credits and may take the class for a letter grade or on a pass/fail basis.)
Esperanto 5B (an advanced beginner course)
Instructor: Lee Miller - - ( lamiller@centurytel.net )
Send email
Students who enroll in 5B should have a basic vocabulary in Esperanto, be able to carry on
simple conversations (about who they are, where they live, what they do for a living, etc.) and
be able to read and understand simple stories.
Esperanto 5D (an advanced intermediate course)
Instructor: Birke Dockhorn - - ( birke.dockhorn@gmail.com )
Send email
Students who enroll in Esperanto 5D should be able to engage in basic conversation on a variety
of topics, and they should be able to read and understand the main points of most stories and
magazine articles. They may struggle to find the right word or be unsure of some grammatical
points, but they generally feel comfortable expressing most of their needs and ideas in Esperanto.
