The Scout Esperanto League, which celebrated its 75th anniversary in 1993, has national representatives in two dozen nations around the globe, but not even one representative in the United States, which has one of the largest Scout movements in the world. This has been a particular concern to Anna Margareta Ritamaki, the editor of SEL's magazine, La Skolta Mondo. Without a representative or even contact address in the United States, it's difficult for growing, multi-national organizations such as SEL to develop. That's why she and SEL are searching now for a young American Scout to become the representative of SEL in the United States who would help inform Americans of SEL's work and SEL of Scout activities in the United States, as well as collect membership fees, which are curently only $4.40 per year. Regardless of whether you're a Scout or not, you might enjoy two of SEL's publications--the textbooks "amborea Lingvo", an Esperanto instructional guide specifically for Scouts (available at ELNA's Book Service), or La Skolta Mondo, the official organ of SEL. While we wait for a US representative to be found, more information on SEL and its work can be had from: Anna Margareta Ritamaki, Peltolavagen 6 b 36, FI-20720 Abo/Turku, FINLAND or aritamaki@finabo.abo.fi
